Stephan Buerger

Stephan Buerger is the Director of buerger katsota architects, which he co-founded with Dimitra Katsota in 2005. He leads the studio’s design practice and strategic direction and is actively involved in all stages of the architectural process.
He has taught at several architecture schools, including the University of Patras, the Career Discovery Program at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design, the Boston Architectural Center, and the School of Architecture at Lund University. He has served as an independent expert for the Mies van der Rohe Award of the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture, and has been a member of various architectural boards and juries, including the Hellenic Institute of Architecture Awards.
As editor of DOMES magazine, Stephan curated 59 issues, two annual reviews of Greek architecture, five exhibitions, and three European architectural competitions.
Before establishing his own practice, he gained professional experience with EDAW, Foster and Partners Shanghai and London, Arakawa and Madeleine Gins in New York, and Roland Rainer Architects in Vienna.
Stephan holds a Diploma in Architecture (with Distinction) from the Architectural Association and a Master’s in Architecture from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design.
