Luke Pearson is Co Founder and Director of Pearson Lloyd, an award winning design studio working with ambitious clients to use the scale of industry as a powerful tool for transformation. Its international projects across transport, workplace, healthcare and the public realm have helped define new typologies and behaviours that respond to a rapidly changing world.
Since establishing Pearson Lloyd in 1997 with Tom Lloyd, Luke has led a multidisciplinary team combining strategy and design to decode complexity and deliver products and experiences that balance the needs of user, client and planet. The studio’s partners include Steelcase, Walter Knoll, Lufthansa, ThyssenKrupp, Teknion, City of Westminster, Swiss Airlines, Virgin Atlantic, Virgin Voyages, InterContinental Hotels Group, City of Bath and JosephJoseph.
Alongside his practice, Luke has played a prominent role in design education, serving as Visiting Professor at ECAL in Lausanne for three years and Platform Leader on the MA Design Products course at the Royal College of Art in London for seven years, co leading the programme with Michael Marriott under Ron Arad’s Professorship.
Luke sits on international juries and design panels and is currently a member of the Independent Design Advisory Panel for High Speed 2 (HS2) and an advisor to the Asia Design Platform (ADP). He and Tom Lloyd were awarded the distinction of Royal Designer for Industry by the Royal Society of Arts, named among Fast Company’s “Top 50 Designers Shaping the Future”, and in 2023 Pearson Lloyd was awarded ‘Designer of the Year’ by Dezeen.
In 2022 Luke received an Honorary Doctorate of Design from Nottingham Trent University for his contribution to design and innovation.
