
Thomas Amargianos
Head architect at Betaplan
He joined BETAPLAN in 1990 and has since collaborated on a large number of major projects. Among the projects where he served as lead architect are the Lazaristes Theatre & Cultural Center in Thessaloniki, the Weightlifting Stadium for the Athens Olympic Games, the OAKA Olympic Games Sports Complex (in collaboration with Santiago Calatrava), the Corfu Opera House, the Kos International Airport, the new Metro line in Thessaloniki (13 stations), and the Costa Navarino Tourism and Golf Resort in Pylos, Messinia.
He was part of the design team for the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center in Athens (including the National Opera House and the National Library), in collaboration with Renzo Piano. He served as the architectural design director for the seven regional airports in the Aegean for Fraport Greece, as well as for three elevated Metro stations on the Red Line South in Doha, Qatar.
Recent projects where he acted as lead architect include the Hellinikon Experience Center, the renovation of the Piraeus Tower, and the Disability-Friendly Building (AMEA) at Hellinikon.
He is currently the lead architect for the design of the Riviera Galleria at Hellinikon, in collaboration with Kengo Kuma and Associates, and the renovation of the Arsakeio Arcade complex.
